Learning AnAqSim

Working through the following three tutorials in sequence and watching the videos is a great way to get started.  Build your own models as you follow the tutorials.  All of the tutorial models may be built and run with either unlicensed or licensed AnAqSim.  Each tutorial is a pdf file accessed by clicking on the links below.   The tutorials have numerous screen shots and a detailed table of contents with links at the beginning, so it is easy to jump to a particular topic.  The tutorials refer to several short videos, found below, that demonstrate key aspects of the user interface.

In Spring 2018, we ran a single webinar that introduces AnAqSim. View a recording of the Introduction to AnAqSim webinar on YouTube.

We periodically offer a series of 6 webinars that cover AnAqSim in detail.

Some additional resources for learning are the User Guidechecks of AnAqSim that include numerous built models, and the dewatering example model..

Tutorials

First AnAqSim Tutorial – build a single-layer heterogeneous, anisotropic model with various boundary conditions.

Second AnAqSim Tutorial – modify the first model into a multi-layer model with various boundary conditions.

Third AnAqSim Tutorial – modify the second model to be transient, with the well shutting off in the first time period and back on at a lower rate during the second time period.

Additional well-designed instructional tutorials are available through the FlexAEM web site.  The first series of these is free and gives a nice overview of methods and concepts that are key to AnAqSim.

The Data Tab

See how to edit, import, and export input data in AnAqSim’s Data tab.

The Plot Tab

Gives an overview of AnAqSim’s Plot tab, where plots in the x,y plane are displayed, along with data at the cursor.  An additional menu and a right-click menu are explained.

Digitizing

Demonstrates how to digitize wells and line boundaries in the shape of irregular polylines, circles, and ellipses.  You can use polyline digitizing to also measure distance.

Graphic Editing

Shows you how to graphically edit the location of wells, of line boundary vertexes, the vertexes of spatially-variable area sink (SVAS) polygons, and the vertexes of area pathline polygons.  Also shows how to insert and delete vertexes.
